Where were thee when my bones laid bare

By  Hayley Lock 2023

Sites of excavation

Currently drawn to local historical sites pertaining to my birth place within East Anglia, I am currently researching and excavating ancient lands and reenergise the forces of my fore- mothers.

Looking to all things medieval, from gendered identities, the symbolism of circles in illuminated texts, holes, dirt, filth, water and plants, I am currently reintegrating excavated objects from an often indeterminate history, into a new body of work as 'there are seeds to be gathered and room in the bag of stars' to quote Ursula Le Guin.
