Arron Kuiper

Llangollen
Arron has spent over a decade developing a completely unique and original method of sculptural painting free from surface and indeed gravity.

Arrons practice is characterised by his singular technique of sculptural oil painting which allows the paint to exist in and of itself free from the constraints of surface and gravity. It is NOT resin; forget about anything to do with resin immediately.
In place of brushes he uses syringes to implant and manipulate oil paint inside a transparent gel which, due to chemical repulsion, keeps the paint static and suspended seemingly in space, rather like art has mugged some passing science and is now out enjoying itself on the proceeds.
Though the work is undoubtedly sculptural it still operates a great deal like painting, and so this is the dimension the artist is interested in exploring by (obviously) making a sh*t-load of it, then looking at/reading/listening to the results.
Themes, styles, and ideas come and go, producing a diverse body of work with an almost Scillerian approach to aesthetic communication and highlighting the unlimited potential of painting in ‘the other’….or gel.
Arron continues to think inside the box, in a shed, in the woods, in North Wales.
