Cherry Truluck

Frome
Cherry Truluck is an artist and researcher, who tends towards edible, convivial, collaborative and sometimes curatorial work, asking critical questions about food systems.

Cherry’s early career in architecture, theatre design and live art was transformed by the emergence of cooking and hosting as a leading focus in her practice, with communal eating and growing also finding its way in as a site of performance in its own right. In 2018 she founded Custom Food Lab to foster radical engagement between artists and food systems. What followed has been wide-ranging but grounded in its connection to/between food and environment: coordinating for the Landworkers’ Alliance; collaborating with the Gaia Foundation to reimagine governance as a seedy ecosystem; building and operating a kitchen and composting system at nGbK Berlin; co-founding Canteen, a community-supported dining programme in Frome; leading kitchen table permaculture workshops for Cement Fields, Floating University Berlin, and BIRCA Bornholm; and creating culinary performances for the Hayward Gallery, Delfina Foundation, Messums West and Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation, in field kitchens beside muddy rivers in Wiltshire and with farmers in Kent.

Lived Experience

Cherry lives in the west country with her partner, an actor and comedy writer and their child - with whom she sometimes creates collaborative performance and film work.
