My work has a marked foundation in landscape, using ideas mined from nature-myth and folklore, and the curation of these, to inform and evolve the texture of lives.

My work has a distinct foundation in landscape, using ideas mined from nature myth and folklore, and the curation of these, to inform and evolve cultural identity

Past work has dealt with the perception of time and space, using series of audio visual vignettes and illusions to evolve new ways of seeing that point towards ideas of liminality; that is threshold states at a point of transformation between opposing worlds, where a mythical gesture may be formed.

I wish to develop a new body of work that builds upon these themes and (based upon fragments of Irish mythology, folklore and pishogue) — centres on ideas of transference of archetypes (from place to place and culture to culture).

These might manifest as a journey through a landscape overlaid with memories, real and imaginary, that manifest in a kind of “hauntology”.

I will explore the possibility of drilling down through existing archived texts, particularly those collected directly from rural communities. These threads will create a background tapestry upon which I will begin to draw my own lines of interpretation using film and music as directive voices.
