18 Shoes

By  Henny Burnett 1996 - 2006

David Roberts

"18 Shoes" an installation piece in which casts of old shoes are made in relief using plaster and muslin. Fine graphite lines unify the shoes with the background wall. The lines follow the contours of each shoe creating a form of mapping. These familiar objects are used as symbols of memory and reference the Paul Klee quote: 'taking a line for a walk'. The size of the installation varies according to the gallery space.
