A Midsummer Table

A performance banquet celebrating Midsummer. Bruce Allan, Mamuka Japharidze with participants and friends of the 2nd HweiLan Artists Workshop, Shih Ti Ping, Taiwan. The table was seven metres in diameter - the occasion the 21st June. The roundness of the moment - table, moon, company and numbers was magical. Guests were invited to bring objects, songs, stories to the table appropriate to the occasion. Chhatrapati Dutta brought Kolkata earth in the form of small cups. Mamuka Japharidze brought wine from Georgia.... An elder lady of our hosts the Amis, a matriachal community, wished us well. We talked, ate, danced and sang songs around the table.
