A Thread Runs Through It - first in series

Joanna Kinnersly-Taylor

First in a series of three works for Airdrie Community Health Centre, Scotland. The large-scale pieces are sited in the reception and entrance areas, and aim to encapsulate key aspects of Airdrie’s past in bold, abstract compositions that make reference to astronomy, blotting paper, baking and confectionery, linen weaving and ironwork foundries. Screen-printed and stencilled on linen, the imagery is applied in layers, gradually building up and stripping away colour.
