After AG Greuze

The work is based upon a painting titled 'A child with a Doll' by Anne-Genevieve, the daughter of the moralistic French painter Jean Baptiste Greuze. It is in the Louvre Collection. There are very paintings known by her and the sitter present her is my daughter. The piece plays upon the sentimental imagery used for children often in contemporary studio high street photography. The re-staging plays embraces the theatrical elements of the work toying with history and its influence upon our culture today.
