All Things Fall II

Working with the recurring motif of the 2p coin threaded throughout the exhibition ‘All Things Fall II’ is a sister piece to the neon work ‘All Things Fall’ 2023. Using the same imagery of a falling coin it is presented on led matrix ‘Pixel’ screens borrowing an aesthetic from familiar 8-bit arcade games. Like it’s sister work it shows the currency of the arcade falling on an infinite loop but across 4 linked screens.
Envisioned to mimic the drop of a coin from a coin pusher machine, the joy of the fall becomes banal, almost tedious, evoking ideas of anticipation and reward whilst considering the difference in experience between visiting a ‘holiday’ resort town or residing in one.
