Apollo was here

By  Alec Stevens 2017
After an inspirational visit to Munich's Glyptothek earlier this year, I have focused my practice on researching classical roman and greek sculpture depicting human forms. Specifically statues that have supportive elements that depict tree like forms link to the figure in unusually ways. I intend to make a series of sculptures that capture a moment after a miraculous transformation where all the elements within the classical composition become real again. wooden elements become wooden and the human forms coming to life and subsequently walking off . My intention for this research is to apply for an award that will allow me to make the piece at full scale for a location that typically sites such sculptures.
