One of a series of monoprints on black paper using cardboard templates and waterbased relief printing inks.
The series itself is based on calligraphy letterforms from the arabic alphabet . Most are cropped by the square frame, emphasising the abstract qualities and distancing non--readers of Arabic from associations with text and related anxieties connected with Islamophobia. It is also a reference to the Pop art use of signs and symbols for their own sake.
