Archive I, II, III comprises three linked artworks made using the parts of a dismantled typewriter with other objects relating to my family history including a lithograph, suspended luggage labels, and keys. The lithograph is a photograph of my mother on her wedding day, printed over with a reference written about her at the end of the Second World War. The luggage labels have photographs on them of five generations of my family, and the keys of the typewriter have been replaced with the same images. The typewriter is a linking theme in my exploration of the family archive, in part because of documents I came across in doing my research and in part because my mother was skilled in shorthand and typing.
