Ariadne Six

“Ariadne Six” is a contemporary and playful response the Myth of Ariadne, with a hint of a Labyrinth: in reworking decorations of Minoan pots [Heraklion Museum] there could be accidental suggestions of sea creatures. The painting is purposefully confusing and intentionally untidy and painterly in parts but possibly the original decorators of Cretan pots would still recognise their designs. Oil paint on canvas
