AS TEARS GO BY

Using an early TV performance of Marianne Faithfull as a basis for the film, Cole takes on the persona of Marianne. As Tears Go By, written for her by Jagger and Richards, was Faithfull’s first single released when she was 17. She always claimed ‘I was never crazy about it’, because she felt it helped create a marketable portrait of her. Faithfull re-recorded the record in her 40's when the song and it’s lyrical melancholy made more sense to her –‘its about a woman looking back nostalgically on her life’. Filmed at Faithfull’s first childhood home, Braziers Park.
