Assemblage

By  Sarah Spanton 2005

Sarah Spanton

A commission from Axis, taking Axis staff on a performative journey from their old office in a picturesque city centre Georgian square, Queen Square, to the newly built Round Foundry Media Centre, in Holbeck Urban Village, Leeds. The performance was made alongside video Set Apart From Others, in response to a dialogue between the artist and staff on their move of work place. Where Spanton interpreted maps, words and significant places the staff gave her, as the starting point for a visual and performative journey - a series of transitions, texts, images and actions, exploring the changes experienced by staff in the move and the fabric and layout of both the old and new buildings.
