Awe and Wonder

Inspired by a canoeing trip on Loch Ewe on the West Coast of Scotland. Glancing across the sea the surface is shiny; a few ripples; but look down into the water and wonder at what is beneath. The clear water reveals sunlight playing through the ripples and eddys creating patterns on the sea bottom and the gentle flow backwards and forwards of the seaweed.
Awe & Wonder is an installation of four parts including woven Shibori, Arashi hand-dyed fabrics and woven double cloth. I have used cotton, silk, linen, banana and monofilament, mostly dead-stock, in the woven structures and remnants of silk organza and calico for the dyed elements.
