Balkan Earth - Archival Pigment on German Etching Paper - Print Edition of 50

By Nick Malone 2025

The format of this print emerged from the human figure when working in Cornwall. The shape of the model with outstretched arms transformed with the prehistoric stone structures that were all about into an elemental cruciform shape that underpinned the composition of the picture plane, often invoking a horizon line. Elements of the series to which this print belongs are deliberately ambiguous and elusive - are their concerns marine or terrestrial, figurative or abstracted, of decomposition or renewal?
