BEING HERE & BEING THERE: PULLING THREADS, 2018 (detail) Materiality: Provisional States Hestercombe Gallery An Artist Book - as an illustrated essay drawing upon extensive site research and consideration of concepts relating to the future of Hestercombe House, questions raised during a 3-year research period that culminated in the exhibition Materiality: Provisional States with Sarah Bennett and Megan Claver, November 2018 - February 2019. The book was based upon my seminar delivered as part of Dialogues and Disclosures in [im]materiality: Hestercombe Unfolds. A series that raised questions and examined possibilities for Hestercombe as it developed its future vision to become the Centre for Art and the Landscape in the South West, stimulated in part by the opening up of new spaces and places. How and why we come to such a place and what we both bring and take from our relationship to such a place, and its relevance, role and function in a time of environmental threat. Threads running through the Dialogues included the management of land[scape], site/off site, access, boundaries, order/disorder, decay, archives, heritage and the experiential.
