Binding time (a winter hoard)

By  Lorna Johnson 2016
Over the course of the official autumn harvest time (22 Sept – 22 Dec) I began to build a winter stock, a natural hoard of fragments of wood, collected on my daily walks that have now become a regular part of my mothering routine. Finding, collecting, sorting and binding – a productive hoarding process that felt very fitting with my current lifestyle and the maternity time I gave to building a piece and really enjoying its production – the slow mindful build On the 22 Dec this winter hoard began to be used via Instagram – over the course of winter this 91 piece collection was made visible, bringing the viewer through to spring.
