Black Swan Sea Creature

Black Swan Sea Creature Pendant - Below the surface of the sea of consciousness, deep in the twilight zone, in a body of water devoid of light and beyond conscious awareness swim the deep sea creatures of the subconscious. This piece is one of a small number that I made for the Gill Wing Jewellery/ The Association for Contemporary Jewellery ‘Tales of the Subconscious’ exhibition. Only after I had finished making the Creatures did I realise how my subconscious memories had influenced my designs; one piece in particular seemed oddly familiar. After discussion with my sister I remembered a long forgotten object, a black and orange ceramic swan which had pride of place in my grandparents’ house. This swan must have been swimming around in my subconscious waiting to morph into a pendant!
