Blue on Blue

By  Pat Hodson 2006

Dimensions
280cm high x 160 cm across

28 piece hanging. Each of the 28 collages are different, as are each of the batiks, while the image which has been digitally printed over the collage is repeated in each. Print colour and dye colour were deliberately restricted in order to examine the differences between dye colour and the sprayed giclee colour of the print. I chose Cyan blue - a blue which will achieve the highest saturation of colour when printed. For the dyed pieces I used layering techniques to achieve the purest of colour on the fabric. Blue on Blue is installed in the Carmelite chapel of St Teresa of Avila, Beacon, New York.(www.carmelitesbeacon.org/pictures.html)

Unfinished journey

Red Redder 3

Deep Series Thoughts about the limitless formless weight which is the sea. Different blues are layered. Pages are layered, with embedded shapes of dyed pattern, and metalic paper strips. Pages are printed, then added shapes are over printed to increase depth of colour and contrast. Embedded shapes are revealed through the ink jet printed layers when the page is waxed.
