'Bombed- A Moonlight Sonata Part II' Dresden, Germany

'Bombed- A Moonlight Sonata Part II' Dresden, Germany In June/July 2011, I created the installation work 'Bombed- A Moonlight Sonata', for the Herbert Museum and Gallery, Coventry, UK exploring the WWII Coventry bombing blitz. The exhibition was an extended commission supported by Arts Council of England., developed initially through Coventry Artspace. I had always wanted to do Part II of the work from the perspective of Dresden. and the German people. I pursued this objective since 2011, obtaining a British Council 'Artist International Development Fund' award in 2017 to visit Dresden and research possibilities. In October 2019 I completed this ambition. 'Bombed-A Moonlight Sonata II' was commissioned by Societaetstheater in Dresden for their Szene:Europa festival and performed in an ex-munitions, bomb-making factory, Zentralwerk. Having come full circle, The Herbert have offered me exhibition space in November 2020, the 80th Anniversary of the Coventry Blitz, to present and disseminate the journey of research, work and outcomes of Part I and II to audiences. I am now discussing with the Arts Council to raise funding for the exhibition.
