It could have been any one of these things that hold the key to the sea of immortality. Written language, in particular the brevity and apparent simplicity of Haiku, suggests an extension of the visual and makes a poignant link between word and image. There is a juxtaposition of ideas that support and enhance each other as well as making a pathway to something new.
