Bread and Ten Noses

This arrangement of eleven crystacal plaster casts is one part of the residue of an international workshop at Arteli Ratcha, in Ratcha province, Republic of Georgia, 2018.
The noses were cast from those of participating artists, made in a salutation to Gogol's short story: The Nose - with noses above the bread table echoing the traditional Georgian supra, a regular celebratory feast involving copious plates of food and a multitude of toasts.
This installation image is a digital pinhole photograph taken by Martyn Grimmer at Gathering, the culminating group show in Ambrolauri State Museum, which later travelled to Tbilisi History Museum, Tbilisi.
