'The cage for exercising demons' is one of an ongoing series of spurious musical instruments which are silent, but whose music can be guessed at by their appearance. Other instruments in the series are audible and some are kinetic such as the 'Day of the dogged' in the rear of the picture. The whole series which constitute the travelling exhibition called 'Uncertain Instruments' is a satirical collection of items big and small, on the theme of technology and is available for hire.
