Diddly-Squat, 2016

By  Heather Ross 2017
A moving image work, 1' in length. This is currently touring as part of 'One Minute Volume 9,' curated by Kerry Baldry. A note on the 'NOTE': JACK: Jack of all trades, master of none; jack shit, diddly-squat, diddly-shit; jack- meaning nothing; hand me that jack- Jack- which jack?- the audio jack, the car jack or the lumberjack? Scottish: Jick American drawl: Jaaack Jack used as a word to describe bird call, does not come without its problems and on encountering Jack, read as a sound, the observer must dis-entangle it from the multiplicity of meanings that get between the word as written, and its meaningful deployment as a sound.
