Each of these things is true

Alice completed a residency in the Elan Valley in Mid Wales in 2022. The experience became a kind of pilgrimage, a journey of growth and exploration to reconnect the artist with herself at a watershed moment in her life. ‘Each of these things is true’ was conceived through exploring the site with her parents and children, but particularly her father, discussing the history/archaeology/culture of the land and family memories of the Elan valley and Cambrian mountains thirty-five years ago. Briggs’ films present multiple physical and psychic journeys through the Elan Valley, Powys, interrogating the artist’s long-standing connections to the place. In ‘Travels with my dad’ she walks with her father, discussing archaeology whilst reminiscing on shared memories.
