The painting comprises of a triptych, with a central panel and two hinged side panels which form "doors". The shape of the painting is based on the use of perspective. It is painted in a hyper realist manner with Trompe l'Oeil technique and portrays the passing of time; when the doors are open the central panel is revealed and a daytime landscape is seen. Then the doors are closed the same landscape is seen in the evening.
