Echoes (night time voices)

This sculpture comprises of 18 soldered, 0.5mm copper sheet forms, which are all hollow so they can be seen through from one end to the other. The dimensions of the forms vary from the smallest: h 6.5 x 4.7 x d 2 cm, to the largest: h 10 x w 6 x d 2.5 cm. Area: h 58 x w 292 x d 9.8 cm The dark spaces inside each form, the changes of natural light throughout the day, which casts shadows and reflections from the copper on to the wall, are all important elements of the work. The forms hang from fine pins and are positioned to give a sense of repetition, distance, time and space. The quality created is quite and ephemeral.
