On Wednesday 26 November 2025, the UK government agreed to end new oil and gas licencing in the North Sea to align with climate commitments.
This makes the UK the largest economy to end new fossil fuel exploration. This was a historic moment, and a major win for the entire climate movement.
This success is currently under threat by climate cowards in some major UK parties calling for retreat on climate commitments because of the war in the Middle East rather than mustering climate courage to move toward a sustainable future and liveable planet.
