This is a site-responsive artwork made during my residency at the Vermont Studio Centre, USA.
Mason line is tied to tree branches and cut at ground level so that it hangs free in the natural vertical. The string interacts with the light so that it is nearly invisible in poor light but is dramatically highlighted when sunlight falls on it. From some views the string appears in clusters forming pink shafts of colour that appear to hover in thin air. In poor light the string appears to have a fairytale quality that is more ghostly. From the front the string links with the lines of the wood planks on the building behind, quite literally extending them down into the space beyond.
