flowers

By Francoise Dupre 2005

Françoise Dupré

This installation was part of art in romney marsh, 2005. For St George Church in Ivychurch. It consisted of a large circular floor piece made with one thousand white knitted flowers. Using a simple childlike design, the flowers were made with French (spool) knitted braids and together formed a giant doily that filled the empty space of the nave. This decorative piece aimed to celebrate local craftsmen and women who through history have made work for the churches.
