An unfolding narrative draws the viewer into an unfamiliar world governed by mood, space and time. The underworld into which one is invited to travel, possesses many locations and temperaments, each expressing a particular nature, perhaps of contemplation, loss, or the liminal.
Water is said to be the element most closely reflecting the emotions, and a metaphor for the passing of time. The image explores water's inherent 'otherness'.
The image is taken from a body of work developed over the past eight years. They are all made from observations of a small insignificant stretch of water called the Hartshay Brook.
This chimerical place is constantly affected by the light, seasons and forces of nature.
