Footfall

By  Tim Skinner 2010

Tim Skinner

A month long visual and audible exloration into one of the most common sounds within human society, the sound of footsteps. Which was explored through the construction of a 6metre long catwalk, inviting people to walk across. Microphones underneath, above and a video camera pointing towards all came together to capture as much audio visual as possible. The work was a constant reminder of repetition in our world, echoing the constant flow of life, and how our darkness, like a flock of crows can interrupt space. A footprint on the landscape. The final piece was a two channel video projection working as one, projected on to the catwalk itself (turned 90º). On closer look you were able to see footprints still remaining on the surface, this created a nice interplay between the dirty marks and the projections.
