“Furies Four” could be located in the domains of “the female grotesque” and “the witches' garden” and is the hottest of the series. It explores the concepts of both retribution and catharsis and draws on iconography that is influenced by texts from Greek tragedy and on the decoration of both black and red figure Greek vases. The Furies, infernal female deities, goddesses of vengeance and retribution are known for tormenting and punishing those who commit crimes and offend the gods.
