gayday : bracket lines

By Jonathan Gabb 2013
This euphorically titled work takes its name and inspiration from the vibrant ceramics of Clarice Cliff: the vibrant colours colliding with the geometric forms of the Art Deco period. The sheets of paint are cut by hand into repeating geometric forms, suspended and layered giving depth and complexity. Translucency within the work allows light from the gallery window to illuminate and blend the colours within the cascading mele.
