The town of Atri, established by the Romans in 285 BC, is a monument to its historic past. The Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta was established as the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Alti in 1251 and the Palazzo Duchi d’Acquaviva was built in 1382 over the Roman thermal baths. This group exhibition is in the basement of the Palazzo Duchi, known as the Cisterna Romane. My paintings, which are from the mid 1980's, reflect the theatricality of the venue.
