Gunfighter

‘Gunfighter’ is one of a series of wearable soft sculptures. This one is derived from a collage called ‘Gunfighter’ which refers to the transformation of everyday objects into ‘props’ for imaginative narratives and stories, much as a child might reinvent objects such as sticks, tools and household implements as part of an imagined world. It might be a way of removing oneself from unpleasant situations. The sculpture was designed to be animated by the wearer, who is distorted and constricted by it. The collage was digitally printed onto fabric and sewn together on our old and beautiful hand cranked Singer 201K sewing machine, working from patterns cut ‘directly’ and by eye.
