Haar

The largest painting I have made to date- a celebration of the immensity of the sea which I love so much. I used my own photos of the sea as a loose reference of the complex facts of the waves when seeing it from a swimmers point of view. A sea fog - named a haar on the east coast in particular - covers the sea, dampening the colours to dark greys, greens and browns. The heavy blanket cloud with a strip of light is a common sight at dawn, distant tankers and container ships on the horizon. Professionally stretched on a cross braced frame, with the painting continuing around the edges.
