Heart Wood: the day before christmas eve

Seen from a speeding car, travelling south on the M6 through Cumbria. Heavy snow flattens the landscape, graphic dark forms etched on light ground, it feels like being propelled through a drawing.All at once I see a wood shaped like a heart, a image both familiar and mysterious, an enigma which continues to create its own legends.
