Historical Interest

Historical Interest is based on the historic aspects of the struggle. In this piece I look at the men involved and each figure is positioned aiming at one another, this refers to the idea of how the same troubling issues were going round in vicious circles. In this piece I reference key figures that were involved in the historic conflict referencing key dates of historic events and happenings. I started to use embroidered plastic mesh to represent wire fencing this idea refers to ‘the men behind the wire’. This piece is one of two completed, I will be making another in relation to the contemporary conflict, posing both artworks side by side to see if there are any differences or if they are both the same in respect to what was and still is happening and whether years apart has made a major impact on the socio-political conflict in the North of Ireland.
