Home

By  Alice Kin 2023

Title is a variation on Home (I’ve noted it down elsewhere).

Collage, ritual costume, self-portraiture, layered with a fly agaric and the words Home Home Home.

In the process of making art in/on/around a particular location, I felt the threads weaving me to a location I had no other connection with. I began to feel a sense of home that was very different to arriving back at a rented flat, for once in my life there was permission to be on the land, clothed or naked, just be. Shuffle your soles on the floor and breathe from your feet like they’re your lungs.
A human on earth should not have to struggle for shelter for food for the kindness of a community - given the riches in this world, the struggle to find somewhere to call home is pure unnecessary invention.
