How We Make It Through

By Sarah Kudirka 2025

Oil painting on linen stretched over panel

Kudirka's 'Across Oceans' series employs shell-like swirling forms to suggest age-old human stories of journeying across water and the gathering and sharing of food. Inspired by tideline pebbles, they whisper of coast days - searching in rockpools and playing in the sand dunes. Other ideas referenced in these works circle around diaspora and how, from ancient times, oceans were a conduit not a barrier to free movement of people.

The title refers to our need for hopeful narratives around helping nature to survive climate change, not just scare stories to make us look after the earth and its limited resources.
