IN THE WOMEN'S BLOCK Bosnia

By Phil Whiting 2005

I was commissioned to accompany the NGO ‘Funds for Refugees in Slovenia’ to Bosnia to bear witness as a war artist. This charcoal, ink and acrylic on canvas work is one of my responses. The image was later commissioned by The Guardian to be published in The Guardian on Saturday 16th 2006 and later in March 2009 was published in the ‘Artist and Illustrator’ magazine. Such print media exposure has over the years helped keep my work (and debate) in the public realm.
