This series pairs original drawings with their photographic reproductions. Pencil drawings render aspects of Saturn, based on the raw images from the Cassini mission. The work plays with –and exploits– an analogue aesthetic, with antique paper giving the drawings an exaggerated materiality. Drawn in the negative, the images are further distanced from making any claims to realistic (or rather, photo-realistic) depictions. Yet, the ‘positive’ prints return the drawings into the photographic realm, enlarging them and evoking our more familiar images of space.
