Made for the Sentier d’Art, Sculpture Path Condroz-Famenne, Wallonia, Belgium.
Wallonia was a major iron producing region going back to the middle ages, but like many heavy industries, it went into decline in the 20th century.
`Iron Fruit’ (an iron bell) hangs from a tree like a seed or fruit, growing from the iron rich soils beneath.
The bell harks back to an earlier time, the clanging metallic sounds of iron ore mining and steel making.
