(Lets Keep On Dancing)
A Black and White Projection in the background shows a couple-
‘The Young & The Beautiful’.
The girl applies eye make-up to the boy.
The film runs on repeat and is slowed down.
They look like they are in a seedy club.
“Appeased he would allow her to mascara his eyes”
“They blew their blow-dried fringes out of their eyes and felt humid beneath their blushes”
- Michael Bracewell, The Crypto Amnesia Club.
We are in the dark.
Music starts playing from a record player.*
A spotlight appears.
A female figure in a white dress with blonde hair dances into the spotlight.
She is wearing headphones.
She is dancing to a different tune.*
She moves in and out of the spotlight.
The record seems to be coming to an end but keeps playing the same line over and over as if it is stuck…
“…Let’s keep on dancing, let’s keep on dancing…”
The dancer repeats the same moves
As the light fades, the music fades
We Fade To Grey.
* Is that All There Is- Peggy Lee
* I Only Want To Be With You- Dusty Springfield
