The work was originally based on drapes and links to the Corona Virus pandemic. Individual loops of wool are hung from nails. The elements are reminiscent of mirrors, a hall of mirrors and perhaps shields also. The mood of the work is dark, solemn, the elements almost confrontational like judges, wise, enduring, perhaps higher beings, other worldly. There is also an unnatural flatness to the forms as if space has absorbed itself and illusionary 'films' can be seen across the mirror face from some angles. From some views the isolation of each ‘mirror’ is emphasized, reflecting the isolation and loneliness of the ‘shielded’, the plight of the self isolating groups and perhaps confrontation with the self. Other associations include long faces and the thinness of razor blades, guillotines. A larger version was also made.
