Le fine del Mondo se finisce l'amore

Counterpoint to my apocalyptic, figurative, outdoor jungle pieces is an interest in decorative floral interior design. The pattern for this is developed from a Persian woodcut and worked on as a study in colour. With the plum I wanted to create an almost fluorescent hue and had to build the surface up with six layers of a semi transparent but pigment rich mixture of high quality paints. I wanted the balance of red to blue to be absolutely centre.
Although the pattern for this was originally Persian I have tried to give it a timeless and culturally open feel. I think it looks as much modern European as Islamic. The title is from a song by Italian pop singer Mina. She has a voice that seems to soar free from the dense drag of the world. A place of of unhindered possibility and beauty. That is what I wanted with these colours. I wanted them to bounce free from their leaden surroundings.
