A poem of light, speed and memory, formed through an interrogation of film material and structure, exploring the movement of light as music, text and body language. Letters uses conflicting patterns abstract hand-painted film and live photography, to create a situation of feedback and interaction between the projected image and the mental and physiological processes of the viewer. The film draws on a number of influences including the cut-ups of William Burroughs and flicker films of Tony Conrad and Paul Sharits. It also references Robyn Denny's abstract mural at Embankment tube station (1985).
